Venue Description:
BMA House is a stunning Grade II listed building home to the British Medical Association and centrally located in fashionable Bloomsbury, London.
This beautiful red brick building was designed in 1911 by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. The design is neo-classical Palladian and incorporates Portland Stone facades, grand Archways, stone Corinthian Columns and Westmorland slate roofs.
The building is centred on a courtyard with memorial fountain. Furthermore a private garden with pond, can be found to the rear of the building; and provides a tranquil outdoor space for Events. The Garden Room is a contemporary space offering the ideal retreat for inclement weather. The Garden is also famous for being the grounds to the house of Charles Dickens where he is said to have written some of his most famous novels.
BMA House has recently undergone a major refurbishment to lovingly restore its rooms in keeping with their original design and Grade II listed heritage. Event spaces include the splendid Prince’s Room, with intricately painted gold leaf on the pillars and stunning glass chandelier. This room is perfect for fine dining and cocktail parties.
The flagship Great Hall stands 28 feet high and has an abundance of natural daylight. The room provides an impressive setting for a formal dinner, cocktail party or conference.
Equally impressive, the Lutyens Suite comprises of the Paget Room featuring Spanish Mahogany pillars and the Snow Room a spacious room with an abundance of natural daylight, retaining many of its original Grade II listed features. The Lutyens Suite benefits from direct access to the Courtyard – a tranquil space ideal environment for summer parties.
The purpose built meeting rooms within BMA House vary from the Carter Room – a stylish boardroom for 12, several syndicate rooms and larger meeting rooms including the Harvey Room, Courtyard Suite and Black Suite accommodating up to 150 guests theatre style. All rooms allow flexible seating arrangements to include cabaret, classroom and u-shape.
Food and Drink will be an all important part of your event and as such we have a dedicated on-site caterer to provide exquisite cuisine and fine wines to suit your needs. Our Events team will work with you to plan a menu and accompanying wines, assist with entertainment and ensure your event is a great success.
